FIDA Calls for Probe Into Gachagua Over University Student’s Murder Claim
NAIROBI, Kenya — The Federation of Women Lawyers Kenya (FIDA-Kenya) has called for investigations into allegations linking Rigathi Gachagua to remarks surrounding the killing of a university student, intensifying debate over leadership accountability and justice.
In a strongly worded statement, FIDA-Kenya distanced itself from sentiments attributed to the Deputy President and demanded an immediate, independent probe to establish the facts surrounding the case. The organization emphasized the need to uphold the rule of law and protect the dignity and safety of all citizens, particularly young people in learning institutions.
FIDA-Kenya further warned against the normalization of violence and urged leaders to exercise restraint and responsibility in public discourse, especially on sensitive matters involving loss of life. The organization reiterated that justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done.
The call for investigations comes amid growing public concern over the circumstances surrounding the student’s death, with civil society groups demanding transparency and accountability from authorities.
As pressure mounts, attention now turns to investigative agencies to act swiftly and provide clarity, as Kenyans await answers on a case that has sparked national outrage.
