Kisumu Horror: Woman Found Dead as Mob Descends on Husband in Suspected Domestic Assault

A suspected domestic dispute turned tragic in Manyatta ‘B’ slums in Kisumu East Sub-County after a 37-year-old woman was found dead inside her home, sparking a violent mob attack on her husband.

Police have identified the deceased as Roseline Achieng Odhiambo, whose lifeless body was discovered with multiple injuries following what authorities believe was a domestic assault.

The incident came to light after a concerned neighbour reported hearing loud commotion from the couple’s house—disturbances that would later reveal a grim scene.

According to preliminary reports, the husband allegedly assaulted the woman before attempting to flee the area. However, his escape was cut short after boda boda riders and residents cornered him.

In a swift and brutal turn of events, the crowd descended on the suspect, subjecting him to mob justice and leaving him seriously injured.

Police officers later arrived at the scene, rescued the suspect from the angry mob, and took him into custody as investigations began.

The body of the deceased was moved to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to establish the exact cause of death.

Rising Cases of Domestic Violence

Authorities say such incidents are increasingly being reported, raising concern over the growing cases of domestic violence in the region.

Campaigners continue to warn that many victims—often women—suffer in silence until conflicts escalate into fatal outcomes.

Police have urged members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead report incidents to authorities to avoid further loss of life.
